I lay alone in a quiet away where no one can hear me,
I hide away from the light of day where no one can see me,
I'm quite as I listen to the day as it passes into night,
I am where no one thinks of me so far away,
I listen but I'm never heard I'm only in your dreams,
I am what you wish you had the life so better craved,
In the shadows so dark and grey this is where I'll stay,
My dear friend wish my life away for I'm what you wish you had,
I don't want this anymore this life so prayed for,
You think of you alone and no one else in every thought in your mind,
This is the way you've made me to be, so selfish so grey,
Maybe what you want is never what you need,
I lay here in your dreams to come as you please,
I have no life or way this is the way I stay,
You never wish for more than you would ever want,
But you never wish for others in this lifeless jaunt,
I lay here in this hide away in your mind.
