Costume Cavity
When you lose your face,
this musics the only place,
you'll find the words to heal the wound,
and you'll lock yourself up inside your room,
searching for these silent answers,
that with which to cool your every nerve,
You'll hold a grudge with your own shadows,
because no one's around to even care.
You'll wear the attire of what you don't want to be,
You'll wear a face of someone new,
You're going to tell yourself it makes you better,
When all your mind is broken and weathered.
You close the door to a world you claim to hate,
walk into a room that is everything you wish you weren't.
You won't admit it even to your conscience,
that you've become everything you're not.
Opening a door and stepping into,
a world that crucifies your very prescence.
You try to run from the fear and all the pain,
but you run from something so unreal,
You're a puppet imitating everything you'd love to be,
wearing a mask so that not even you can see,
behind a withered costume was this person,
this person mocking everything,
a person laughing in your face.
